Who am I? I am a warrior mom to Christian, David and Ricky. I spend my days researching IEP’s, ASD, HFA, Kaiser, my local RC – CVRC, copays, deductibles, Medi-Cal, OT, PT, ST, ABA, IPP’s, and the list goes on. If i’m not on FB, i’m in a webinar. If i’m not in a webinar, i’m in a support group. If i’m not in support group, i’m in Sacramento, Rancho Cordoba, Oakland and quite possibly San Diego. In my spare time (lol) i work a full time job as the Marketing Director for WestCare California, Inc. WestCare CA is a behavioral health and human services organization that provides mental health & wellness, treatment & rehabilitation, Veterans services, criminal justice services, housing opportunities and education and prevention to those in need throughout California.
Before I was a mom I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn’t worry whether or not plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a mom I had never been puked on.
I had complete control of my mind and thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a mom I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn’t stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew that I would love being a mom.
